​Commonwealth Response Coordination Center

PEMA’s Commonwealth Response Coordination Center (CRCC) is located at PEMA headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Mission

The mission of the CRCC is to assist municipal and county responders during times of disaster by providing response and recovery support to each of the 67 counties within the commonwealth.

Support to the counties is accomplished by maintaining situational awareness and coordinating personnel and resource deployments to support disaster operations.

How Does It Work?

The CRCC is staffed by PEMA personnel and agency representatives from state agencies, volunteer organizations, and private partners organized under emergency support functions (ESF) related to their capabilities.

By bringing together these agency representatives, PEMA can better coordinate a combined state level response and deconflict issues by interacting with each agency face-to-face.

What’s a CRCC Activation?

The governor, through the PEMA director, or designee, orders the activation of the CRCC for natural or human-caused disasters such as severe weather, nuclear power plant incidents, civil unrest, domestic terrorism, or in anticipation of a possible threat.

When activated, the necessary and appropriate resources to support local efforts with staff, equipment, special response teams, and subject matter expertise are made available.
